XX. "The King Must Die" - Mary Renault

I've tried to become engaged in this novel about Theseus, but the narrator sounds so spoiled and self-absorbed that there wasn't room in the writing for a reader.

I felt the same way. I began this book once and then put it down in disgust.

I'm in the minority. I was looking forward to seeing your thoughts on this one as I had really liked it when I read it a few years ago. Oh, well. Different strokes, right? :-)

I love your reviews, by the way. Even this one made me smile!

I had the same reaction to another of her novels: The Mask of Apollo. One of my friends figured I would love it, but I couldn't get more than ten pages in on any attempt to read it.

Not for me.
